Nuevo Tingo – The city at the root of Kuelap

Nuevo Tingo was a sleepy little village until the bus station went into operation, where only backpackers stayed for the night and usually walked up to the fortress of Kuelap the next day. This can still be done, but in the combination with bus and cable car it is much more comfortable. This is precisely what the builders of the cable car have targeted. The project, which cost around 22 million USD, is now to make the place a crowd puller.

In some point you can clearly see this not necessarily positive development, because now build the hotels in the village with up to 5 storeys, which does not umbedigt beautiful fit into the landscape. Well, the capacity of needed beds is still rising …

In the village there are all categories from budget hostels to expensive hotels. Only the 5-star fans have to settle for a bit, because there is no real need for this sort of hotel.

The streets around the main square of the place were in the beginning of 2018 partly still in work and the park was designed with a beautifully designed and cut book and hedge overlooked. We have never seen such a beautiful park in Lima.

We like to spend the night here and then arrive at Kuelap freshly breakfasted the next morning.
