Museo Taller Hillario Mendivil
Gallery Walk
If you wander around the San Blas neighborhood of Cusco, you’re bound to stumble upon a few of the tallers, or local artisan gallery and shops.
Generally, you walk into a beautiful outdoor courtyard which various rooms open into. One of the rooms is inevitably a place to buy the folk art made there, another is a small museum with information about the artist and the style of the work. The remaining rooms are workshops with artisans working on different stages of the art.
You can walk around and check out the galleries for free. Each is dedicated to a particular artist, ranging from sculpture, tapestry, to pottery. Pictured is the distinctive llama-necked statues of Georgina Dueñas de Mendivil.
