THE PARK OF IDENTITY
Overview
The Park of Identity (Parque de la Identidad) was created between the years 1992 and 1996. It has a size of about 5,800 m². The park has canals, statues and portals indicating the region’s specialties. Among the sculptures are the most representative of the region: Angelica Quintana “La Chaparrita”, Leonor Chávez Rojas “Flor Pucarina”, Victor Alberto Gil “Picaflor de los Andes”, Emilio Alanya “Moticha”, Néstor Chávez Calderón, Zenobio Dagha Sapaico, Sergio Quijada Jara, Francisco Rivera Jiménez, Francisco Leitth Navarro and Amadeo Ugarte Ríos, all of which are well known in the region. The park is very colorful and beautiful to look at with its many flower-framed areas. The overall design is very much influenced by Park Güell in Barcelona, Spain, designed in 1904 by architect Antonio Gaudí.
